Steven Michael Glabman
Steven Michael Glabman was born in Chicago at the beginning of the turbulent sixties. He relocated several times between Wisconsin and Illinois and has been wandering the apartments of Chicago since 1987.
Degrees in Art and Sound Engineering from Columbia College and an extensive travel background have helped shape and educate the young artist. GLABMAN ARTWORK uses all media in order to assault the complexities of modern society. As a guitarist, Steve uses technology and endless passion to create exotic and hypnotic environments that dispose with the facts of Space and Time. As a poet, Steve lives in the rich tradition of the Beats. His writings act as the links between the visual art and the experience of everyday life. His poems are full of cryptic clues into the inside workings of the artist. The visual art Steve creates is the most widely recognized form today. Since abandoning his paintbrush in 1993 for a pair of scissors, Steve has been operating under the influence of Matisse. His cut-outs are bright, colorful, and inventive. They seem to extend a feeling of freedom and unbridled optimism, as if new light had begun to shine.
Steve has been involved with the Chicago Peace & Music Festivals since 1988 and The Unofficial Soup Kitchen since 1994. Steve designed and created the graphics for this web site. Steve is a versatile interdisciplinary artist living and working on the cutting edge of art.
